Christmas Kindness
This will be short. Over 14 million people in the UK are living in poverty and on top of that, with lockdowns and everything that has happened this year (2020), more people will be alone.
This means the chances are incredibly high that there are people a short distance away from you that will spend the time alone or on the street, or even those who are in houses but struggling to make ends meet.
This season is the season to be kind and generous to all. To think of others.
Age UK found in 2018 that half a million older people were lonely over Christmas. The charity Mind has also found that millenials were also just as likely to experience loneliness. That was before the impacts of lockdowns and Covid19 happened this year.
So this last day is focusing on giving. Giving your time or some spare change to help someone in need. A simple hello to someone new. A card through the door of a neighbours house. A call to your relatives. An online Christmas film night with friends or family. A mince pie making competition with friends or family.
Donating some spare change to a cause you care about.
Some ideas for charities that could do with support are:
Send a card or present to people in nursing homes or hospitals
What about staff in hospitals too
Make a Christmas box for Operation Christmas Child
Pay it Forward
And this ends my 12 Days of Christmas #EcoEdition. I hope you have enjoyed it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Wishing you the best in the upcoming year.
