Money and me

Dear Money,

I don’t want you, but I acknowledge that I need you. I almost resent the society that we are in, where you are necessary to live life. And even then, I do resent that you aren’t evenly distributed. Instead you are hoarded by a few while so many need you, your help, the ability to gain access to basic human rights. It seems crazy that you are needed for this but I blame society and those few hoarding you.

I believe in the right hands, you could do so much more for society. Do better for our planet. I believe we as a race should value that, use your power for good, help others achieve, live, breathe freely without worry of whether they can pay for heating and food, or if this month it has to be a choice between them.

My plan is to earn you. But not hoard you. I want to spread you out. Use you to help raise awareness of environmental issues and support individuals, charities and companies that are doing the same, to make you go further, be stronger and more successful. To show others that you can be and should be used for good.

I know I need you in order to achieve even just a fraction of the dreams I have in my head for my business. I have to respect that.

Throughout history there has always been a need for some way to pay for items. I enjoy the idea of bartering but I also understand that right now, with the world at our fingertips, that isn’t possible in the same way.

I struggle with you as a result. When I had you, I didn’t know or respect your value and how you could help me better shape the world around me. And now I have limited access to you, I value you a lot more.

So money it is. I just have to figure out how to get hold of you, hold you and make you grow so I can distribute you to more people, charities, places where you can do the most good.

Yours,

Cathy
