Kerry is on a mission to eliminate plastic dish scrubs. For the last year, she has been hand sewing eco friendly and compostable versions made from cotton and hessian, and all beautifully finished with eco friendly printed designs.

After quitting her job, Kerry started this to address the microfibres that rub off when we wash dishes and drain into our waterways and ultimately to our rivers and seas. She has single-handedly replaced over 720,000 plastic sponges with her eco friendly scrubbies! Her passion has driven her to ensure every aspect of the creation is as sustainable and planet friendly as possible. PLUS she has a kind and wonderful nature, supporting prisoner rehabilitation by getting the local prison involved in helping her sew these scrubbies. She genuinely cares about the environment which is why it is important to keep the cost of her product as low as possible – to make it the attractive alternative, in more ways than one.

Materials:

  • 100% Organic Cotton printed with eco dyes

  • Bamboo Lining (naturally antibacterial - no smell)

  • Hessian backed for excellent scrubbiness

  • 100% Organic Cotton Thread (very important - cheap polyester thread doesn't biodegrade)

  • They measure approximately 14cm x 11cm each

  • Exact pattern placement will vary on each one

  • Soft on one side, scrubby on the other...perfect!

On a personal note: I found her scrubbies through @bermondseybits and bought them as gifts for family. I thought the designs were gorgeous as well as the eco creds being top notch. After chatting to Kerry and finding out more of her story, she is one of my favourite people to have met on this eco friendly journey. Her heart is huge and she is incredible. I have put my own order for a selection of these to gift to friends and family this year.
