Who Am I?

I am the voice of the ocean, bursting at the seams with the single use items people have long discarded and long forgotten about. Hoping for a time the power of my waves crashing against a beach and don't deliver plastic, but lap at peoples toes or give the pure joy of racing waves to avoid wet feet.

I am the voice of the forest, my roots reaching out, twisting and looping, trying to avoid rubbish dropped in my path. Feeling uncared for. Scattered litter taking the attention from my natural beauty that longs to be loved and experienced for what it is.

I am the voice of the beach, where partygoers head for a fun night out, or friends and families meet for a day in the sun; catching up, enjoying food and drink... and throwing cigarette butts, bottle caps, cutlery, cans and ice lolly sticks in the sand or stone. Wishing instead for people to enjoy running, playing or lying on me, making sand castles and staring at a starry night, sharing wishes for their future.

I am the voice of the parks and fields where festivals occur or sunny days with friends are spent lounging around, bringing food and drinks and then leaving the empty containers, tissues and cans, rather than footsteps and daisy chains.

I am the voice of the wind, tired of blowing litter everywhere everytime I squall. Wishing I could blow through streets or fields or above oceans with no guilt of spreading waste. Longing to simply be enjoyed or found useful for my natural strength to drying washing or filling sails.

I am many things. I have many hopes.

I hope for a future where earth and humans can live as one.

Where it doesn't take 2.7 earths to sustain the life of current humanity.

Where both mother earth, other mammals and humans live in coexistence and equal respect.

Where waste is frowned upon.

Where the easiest solution isn't always regarded as the right solution.

A person that believes in the future of humanity and mother nature coexisting rather than a person who will put their headphones on and drown out the sound of nature crying.

I could go on. But instead, I leave you with this question. You asked me who am I. But I am asking you, who do you want to be?
